Loving my 6.5 steel
This is giving me more confidence in getting the Bristlecone as it doesn't come in GWS... MF only.
Interested in how the Mathews compares, why was it excluded?
Everyone’s invited to these, but for various reasons some manufactures choose not to participate. Most of the time it has to do with timing. If you go on Rokslide.com you will see multiple reviews on Matthews and they perform very well
Please make for a Tikka
It is not the best bow in this video, but I like my Hoyt Alpha X 30 very much.. (Best group by the way..)
It was a great shooting bow thats for sure!
Let her rip potato chip, love my Omen at 74 lbs and 30 inch DL,, wicked fast and very accurate
Thanks for checking out the video I appreciate it! The omen is an awesome bow!
Awesome review!! Thank you
Why wasn't Mathews Lift 29.5 or 33 included in the test?
Thanks for checking out the video. The Mathews bow didn't show up in time (it still hasn't arrived) for the test.
@@adventureoffscript Understood. Their loss.
I could almost hear you over the music
What poundage you shooting
You shoot that alpha X well my friend. Is that what your going with as your groups were without a doubt the best with the Hoyt
I appreciate the kind words and thank you for watching! I was fortunate enough to hunt with the the Alpha X in 2023 and shot a buck with it! I will be hunting with the other bows this upcoming season!
Very nice build and walkthrough. I definitely want to do a Tikka build myself. Something very similar but in 300 WSM. Sadly Tikka doesn’t offer a threaded version in 300 WSM for left hand shooters like myself so I will have to build one, eventually. Rodger Holscher has been helping me out with ideas and where to find parts, etc… Thanks 🙏 for sharing this with us. 😎🦌🐻⛰️🏕️
For what it’s worth, I did move AWAY from the 300 WSM to rechamber this to a 6.5 PRC. I really feel like the PRCs are achieving a lot of what the short magnums were trying to do.
@@jadenbales nice I still have my 300 WSM and I like it, but it’s right handed and has a long unthreaded barrel and I eventually want to run suppressed to save my ears 👂 after I damaged them hunting with my 300 WSM that has a brake that I can’t get off. I am saddened that the ammo for 300 WSM has pretty much disappeared from shelves. Thankfully I can reload. I don’t blame you for switching up cartridges for that reason and that you use your guide gun for clients who might be recoil shy. Rodger suggested that I give 6.5 PRC, but I have a 270 Win that shoots the same weight range bullets at similar speeds. If I go away from the 300 WSM I would lean towards the middle PRC brother aka the 7 PRC or the 300 Win Mag (great cartridge and plenty of ammo options).
@@TheWVgoodguy22 Love it man! Great reasoning - I used to shoot the .270 and you'r so right that the 6.5 and .270s fill similar roles.
only left out the hottest bow of the year yea that makes sense.....
Are your referring to the Mathews LIFT?
Jason, YOU need to learn not everybody wanted to send a bow for this test.. Does it make sense now? The "hottest" bow is at 10:22 by the way..
I did the same thing. Took a new stainless T3x 300WM and converted it to a 7PRC. Prefit Proof 24" 8t barrel, Stocky's stock inletted for that barrel, aftermarket trigger spring so now it's pulling at just over a pound, bedded in marine tex. Shoots lights out with factory ammo so well I've not even started testing handloads. Plan to flute the bolt. it's the lightest hunting rifle I have I think. Just received my Stocky's stock VG today for another conversion. Again a new donor stainless 300wm T3x. This build will have a 24" #3 4 groove Brux barrel chambered in 270-7PRC. That stock is inletted for a Tikka Roughtech, so slightly larger channel than a standard T3x sporter contour. My builder has another 300WM, this one is the wood stock Hunter. I'm converting it to a 6.5PRC. Should be ready in about a month. Also a Brux #3 4 groove 8t barrel. Factory wood stock will be pillar and skim bedded. The action and barrel will be cerakoted "savage stainless" and the bolt will be black.
Sounds like a sweet quiver of guns man! Nice!
Sweet build, very similar to a 7 SAUM build I’m doing.
Very nice bud
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching. 👊
Happy 6.5 day Jaden! :)
Ayyeee right back atcha! Thanks for watching.
That’s the best bow review i have ever seen. Thank You for the great video!
Hey thanks, it was a lot of work and I appreciate you checking it out!
I’m guessing that ethos was on the performance mod? Shot that bow earlier this year and it’s an absolute shooter!
Just curious, which portion of the test indicated to you that it wasn't an absolute shooter?
@@adventureoffscriptI’m not understanding your question?
@@brentbandy3566 I was wondering what made you ask if the ethos was on the performance mod? ha ha
Nice review man!!! I love to send my PSE DNA In for that review I ain’t hating I just been looking to upgrade from it but year after year I just keep it and ordering new strings and cables from ABB I can’t find anything faster or lighter and more dead in the hand is the DNA the greatest bow ever built? I am all in for a new bow every year but I can’t find anything better
I been begging for someone to sell me a new bow!!! PSE Mach 30 peaked my interest as well as the lift 29.5
Hey thank you! It was a ton of work but I strive to provide helpful information! The Mach 30 DS was pretty sweet. As for the LIFT, it didn't show up in time!
Long story short, pick the bow that feels the best and practice like crazy. Modern bows can outshoot most anyone.
Can’t argue with that
So true! They are all AWESOME some just perform better for certain people!
I’ve been waiting for a video like this
I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for checking it out!
DA-BREEZ
best test I have seen on RUclips
Thank you I appreciate that. A lot of effort goes into it!
Curious why Mathews didn’t get tested? Great video!! Lots of cool stuff to think about.
We never leave anyone out on purpose. Just depends on who’s willing to send a bow when we’re ready to do the testing. Super happy with Matthews and many of our members will agree. They just didn’t send a bow for this test.
The Mathews bow did not show up in time to be test. As of this comment, it still has not arrived. When it does, I will do an individual bow review.
When.......ball/pan head
Can anyone identify the optic?
I believe it is the sig tango msr lvpo
Would have been interesting to rate/compare these to each other. How do you feel the AKEK performed?
from what I hear the Maven makes one hell of an astronomy binocular under dark skies.
That’s a big ass grouse
Velvet brown coat on that horse 🌌🍫 Like "indoor" cooking on propane stove in tent. Though would be neat to cook with coals in a fire ring to do a pizza in a dutch oven on a tripod. I lived in canvas four wall tent for wildlife refuge work on northeastern us barrier island. Suggest if have more than three people, to do a cook & sleep tent...
thanks for watching and chiming in. Barrier reef? Sounds like cool work and wall tent living is good living--robbydenning
5.4 lbs? everywhere I look says 6.1lbs can anyone confirm which is correct?
Joseph von Benedikt uses this sling on backcountry elk hunts and Alaskan coastal bear hunts. That's a solid endorsement, and this sling is now on my shopping list.
thanks for chiming in. Still using it! Sounds like Red Kettle went out of business, but there is inventory out there. Check with Happy Antelope, an online store. Just google it. They're a Rokslide advertiser and had inventory--RobbyDenning
Great job Robby. I love those long full bore conicals. We have gotten sub MOA groups with peep sights (Williams peep with a fine white line patridge front blade from XS Sights) and No Excuses conicals (460 grain in a 50 caliber). Aiming point off the top of the blade so you aren't covering the aiming point with the front post. No Excuses runs their bullets through a sizing die for a precision diameter. A big thing I have learned with lead conicals is that if you load them too "hot" the accuracy gets erratic. My thoughts are that lead conicals tend to "strip" away from the rifling as the load gets too hot. For our Knight DISC Extreme in 50 caliber, we get best accuracy with 80 to 85 grains of BH209. More powder than that and the group opens up. When I am in a state that requires a percussion cap, it won't ignite BH209, so I first put in about 4 grains of easy to ignite powder (Jim Shockey Gold, Triple 7 would likely work) that fills the "cup" in the breach plug. I tap the side of the barrel then put in the BH209. I can foul the barrel with this load and carry a load on a fouled barrel for a very long time without corrosion issues and it cleans up with Hoppe's No. 9.
Hey, best comment on this thread right here. Thank you for sharing all that information. I’m gonna remember it on my next tag that requires conicals-robby denning
Music Is a bit loud
Awsome hunt and video man knows his mule deer. This will sound funny but if you ever get out to ca and want to hunt sum high sierra bucks hit me up. Its rough beautiful country and holds sum really big bucks. Happy hunt n.
Thanks Wesley for watching and chiming in. If I ever get the itch to hunt the High Sierras, I'll hit you up. With the good water years you're having, I'd guess there's a bright future for those mule deer--Robby Denning

Which one is quietest???
Nice and "go back in time shape" tent. There's a simple solution to the entrance door zipper and am quite surprised they haven't through about it... I need to start building my own tents!
Do it! lol. Thanks for the watch
everyone buys marsupial for a reason. they are very good.
You hunters like to call this sport. Out of interest if the animals had guns and could shot back would it still be sport? that's the first question and the second one is, Would you still want to play this sport ? Your all to gutless to even answer the first question because your cowards, no balls , taking out your inadquacies on defenceless animals. Remeber what goes round comes round. Not that you will connect the two!
Excellent Robby I plan on applying for general muzzleloader deer 🦌 in Utah this year and they recently banned magnified scopes so I will have to get one without a scope and put in some trigger time.
You will enjoy the process and the hunt. Hope you get to fill your tag too.
@@Rokslide I believe that I will I like my CVA Optima V2 thumb hole in 50 cal with a scope, so this adds an additional layer of challenge
@@Rokslide thank you 🙏 I am coming from Ohio so it would be nice to pay all that money 💵 and bring back meat 🍖 and memories
The hinge lock doubles as a crude aiming tool. Have you reviewed the Zeiss Binofix adapter? I’m looking at making myself one based on that or the Berlebach wooden version.
Hey, thanks for the tip on the hinge as an aiming device. Have not tried that other adapter. Didn’t even know it existed.
What kind of a decoy is that?
Heads Up Decoy
Thank you! You knocked it out of the park with this review! Thanks so much for all the effort you put into being so thorough.
Awesome video. Thank for sharing!
And thanks for watching-robbydenning
Any details on how they mounted this on what appears to be a CVA paramount? Hard to see but looks like rings on a picatinny rail?
no Kuiu?
does a Bino case with concealed handgun combo exist?
Looks like fit could be a factor but from those first few tests regarding mobility, the order seems to be Sitka, then FHF, then Stone Glacier, then Adak
